Meeting Between Neighborhoods and Walgreens

Posted by Josh on Wednesday January 27, 2010 3:08 pm

On January 25, Hedrick Acres Neighborhood Association Co-Secretary Robert Sheinaus was joined by representatives of the Richland Heights East Neighborhood Association in a meeting with representatives of the Walgreens Corporation to discuss concerns with an application for a Series 10 liquor license at Walgreens Store #05209 at 3180 N. This was in response to Walgreens filing applications for dozens of liquor licenses in December 2009 (read about it here). Meeting Notes - Mountain Avenue Art

Mountain View NA Meeting, Thursday January 14, 2010

Meeting Notes - Mountain Avenue Art

The Mountain View NA invited area neighborhoods to come and hear artist Simon Donovan speak about his plans for artwork along the Mountain Avenue phase three improvements from Fort Lowell Road to Roger Road.  He was introduced by Bonnie Poulos of the Campus Farms NA, who had arranged his appearance.  Also present was Mary Ellen Wooten of TPAC, the Tucson Pima Arts Council.  Bill Crouse, President of Mountain View NA, ran the meeting.

Many people know Simon Donovan's work from his Rattlesnake Bridge downtown; he also created the book ornamentation on the outside of the Woods Memorial Library.

Mr. Donovan explained the two projects he is completing for Mountain Avenue.  There will be landscape boulders, similar to the boulders on Mountain Avenue south of Grant Road, with engraved inscriptions of short poems focusing on nature themes by Ofelia Zepeda, a Tohono O’odham poet and scholar, UA linguistics professor, Tucson poet laureate, and longtime neighborhood resident.  The inscriptions on each boulder will be in both Tohono O'odham and English.  The other project involves the painting of the 50 utility boxes that will be along the avenue.

The HANA Calendar

Posted by Josh on Thursday January 07, 2010 1:17 pm

Neighbors:

As a part of some upcoming tweaks to the HANA website, I've opened up the HANA Calendar (http://hedrickacres.org/calendar) so that you can add your own events. If you are having a yard sale, know of a special event, etc., of interest to the neighborhood, you can add it yourself. To add your event:

  1. Go to The HANA Calendar
  2. Click the "+" symbol in the upper right hand corner of the date to which you want to add your event
  3. Fill out as many of the fields as possible with as much detail as you have
  4. If the event has a starting and ending time, set the dropdown reading "Untimed event" to "Timed event" and set the starting time and duration
  5. If the event repeats, either note it repeats in the "Repeat" tab or note that it does in the event's description
  6. Fill out the Challenge/Response section (this particlly ensures you are a human being and not some evil spam robot) and click Save

To avoid silliness and whatnot, events will still need to be approved before they are visible to the public. I'll do my best to approve them (or contact you with details) within 24 hours.  If your event is not approved or you have any trouble adding an event, feel free to drop me a line using the Contact Us portion of the site.
